Meireles found himself deeper in midfield today supporting Lucas (who I thought still played well today, despite the lack of "risky" passes forward). Both Meireles and Lucas had decent lateral movement to support the center backs, especially after Sparta tried to force the issue and offer up more pressure in our zone. Johnson continued his fine run of play while back on the right, and looked the most likely to create something, anything, today.<br /><br />Unfortunately, Ngog showed both rust and a lack of confidence -- Repka really got inside of his skull. It wasn't until he was about to be taken off that his touch and runs improved. Maxi also had a terrible touches in possession, but I haven't seen him play well in a more than a few games now.<br /><br />With two of our three attacking options lost out there on the pitch, I'd say we were fortunate to walk away with a draw today (especially given the number of attempts Sparta had)!spikenoreply@blogger.com
