Sorry!

And if we're name-dropping, I went to the alma mater of the kid that Hristo Stoichkov crippled. Does that count? Probably would have been at that game too if I wasn't in England that semester.natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10043601945557998732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-62166419714174659302010-06-11T08:47:09.455-04:002010-06-11T08:47:09.455-04:00I'd love to see Torres in there, or Edu at lea...I'd love to see Torres in there, or Edu at least. Clark works hard but we all know his limitations. Bradley taking Buddle, Findley and Gomez over Ching was a welcome shocker. It gives me hope he may take a few chances like you said and shake things up. The entire back line scares the hell out of me, especially on set pieces.

How about super sub Gomez coming on in the second half and getting a late equalizer, busting out the Hercules dance. Distant second to Crouch's robot, but its all we've got for now. Those new forwards are going to be the x-factor, can they perform on the biggest stage in the world?Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11585007019421806111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-82568146830152715972010-06-11T05:17:38.800-04:002010-06-11T05:17:38.800-04:00Somehow, I can only see a draw - with US workrate ...Somehow, I can only see a draw - with US workrate cancelling out English misfiring brilliance. Perhaps a result that will suit both sides (though England wouldn't admit it and Capello would get slaughtered in the UK Press).

Looking forward to the game though!

Before the World Cup starts, a bump to comments on the "Who's Next" blog for fans that want to do something about the ownership situation at Liverpool.McrRednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-57205853382748679112010-06-11T02:36:05.969-04:002010-06-11T02:36:05.969-04:00Hey nate,
After looking at the US v England game,...Hey nate,

After looking at the US v England game, I really can't make a pick as to who will win. I know on paper that England is better, but I have this feeling we may see some magic from the US squad; I'm hoping that Edson Buddle gets involved.

What a great story he is, but props must be given to Bob bradley for taking Buddle. One reason that I'm very optimistic about the US's chances against England, and in the tourney, is that it seems that Bob is willing to take some chances. And I think the US Will need to take some chances if they want to get to the advanced rounds. It would have been easier to take some internationally experienced players like Brian Ching (incidentally, I go to Ching's alma mater,) but Bob is taking a big risk with Buddle who has something like 4 or 5 caps.

But I like that risk he's taking. I like managers who lean on veterans but use young talent. I cringe a little when I look at Italy's lineup, and i think they have been too cautious with their lineup.

Anyway, I've been a follower since about 2007. Keep up the good work, sometimes you're my only means of liverpool news/results. I'm looking forward to some World Cup analysis.Mattnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-90127799719678659482010-06-10T19:37:11.362-04:002010-06-10T19:37:11.362-04:00I think Torres would do well vs an England midfiel...I think Torres would do well vs an England midfield of Gerrard/Lampard. There could be space to exploit, and he's more dynamic and a better passer than Clark or Edu. Plus, I just think he's the best of the three. Bradley would have to be more disciplined though.

Edu wouldn't be a bad shout either by any means, but I think Bob will play it safe and keep faith with Clark.natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10043601945557998732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-25668888322501797142010-06-10T17:57:20.934-04:002010-06-10T17:57:20.934-04:00I agree that Edu or Torres should start over Clark...I agree that Edu or Torres should start over Clark. Clark and Bradley are very similar players and having two of them in the side adds little to the team. Starting Torres against England though is never going to happen because with his small size the English Mids would brush him aside without any effort at all. My bet is that Torres comes on around 60' to push the US on to a goal, if needed. All in all though Edu should start over Clark, but I doubt Bob will play that way.Davidnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-66436305326020009662010-06-10T17:15:47.345-04:002010-06-10T17:15:47.345-04:00I've seen a few predictions now that has Clark...I've seen a few predictions now that has Clark starting next to Bradley in the mid-field. While it does make sense to have a defensive-minded midfielder in the game against England, I certainly hope the elder Bradley goes with Edu or Torres, as they are both superior players to Clark. Torres, in particular, brings a calmness on the ball that not many US players have. Furthermore, he's played well in recent friendlies and also got consistent minutes for Pachuca (Mexican league) this year.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06197009964549077635noreply@blogger.com
