The tumorous owners make it hard to remember sometimes – I stare at the trees so often I miss the forest – but Liverpool still carries some cache. Even with the club's problems, it's an excellent capstone to Hodgson's career.natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10043601945557998732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-84254102231272347672010-07-01T13:19:21.664-04:002010-07-01T13:19:21.664-04:00@keith.cygan

If he succeeds (which for me would be keeping Torres and getting us back into the CL the next few years), then he can retire with the fawning adulation of the press once the new owners are bedded in.

If he doesn't reach those now-lofty heights, then he can still bow out gracefully (and with a hefty bump in pay for his golden years), with all acknowledging the immense challenges he faced at today's Anfield--using the slack that was never cut for Rafa.

There's only one direction he could take Fulham in from here; bar a relegation scrap, moving over to LFC is win-win for him.drewnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-12550677884702503992010-06-30T21:25:45.907-04:002010-06-30T21:25:45.907-04:00I have to ask -- what exactly is Hodgson's mot...I have to ask -- what exactly is Hodgson's motivation for taking the job? Is it solely because the step up from Fulham to Liverpool is so big? I mean, if and when we get new owners in here, you would think that they're probably going to want to bring in a new manager. Furthermore, the situation as is obviously isn't good -- I can't imagine he's going to have a whole lot of money to spend this summer. I don't know -- it just seems like this is not an enviable situation to step into.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06197009964549077635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-83879058609204596132010-06-30T13:47:52.291-04:002010-06-30T13:47:52.291-04:00Great blog, Nate...

He made Voronin looks like a Brazilian international.

I think the biggest factor is how well Hodgson can do with a healthy squad. Liverpool finished seven points back last season despite some massive injury concerns. If the players return healthy, is Hodgson a good enough manager to lead them back to the top four? My gut reaction is yes, but he will not work miracles if the club either sells or if the injury bug remains with the club.TimChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02823194634818041541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-53139815045114575532010-06-30T08:15:45.161-04:002010-06-30T08:15:45.161-04:00oh and it seems man city have now signed david sil...oh and it seems man city have now signed david silva. urggh.lonelyportraithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06781469974275297504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-21891331558040158262010-06-29T21:13:43.382-04:002010-06-29T21:13:43.382-04:00i'm not exactly chuffed at the news Roy will b...i'm not exactly chuffed at the news Roy will be taking over but at least it's not Sven .. i had a nightmare about wearing one of those god-awful masks they had at Citeh right before he got sacked and no matter how hard i tried, i just couldn't get it off my face ..
/true storysteven.http://www.paisleygates.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-85249651931307956282010-06-29T18:58:34.832-04:002010-06-29T18:58:34.832-04:00Oh, that's the other thing from the tour. It looks godawful and it actually took me a minute to figure out what it was; thankfully it won't get seen much on matchdays.

Also, welcome to LFC, Roy. Honestly my biggest worry at this point (since I'm not exactly expecting we'll get a CL spot any time soon, or keep world-class talent around beyond this season) is keeping the youth pipeline going--we have to snap up and develop young talent before it is priced beyond our means. Vital that the club stay solvent until it can be sold.drewnoreply@blogger.com
