I hope we can see Carroll, Sahin in the Europa League on Thursday, already looking forward to that :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10639674660527850918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-53073606510980607802012-08-27T07:01:14.642-04:002012-08-27T07:01:14.642-04:00Hi Nate,

I prefer your match reports to the ones that the LFC site puts out, they are always entertaining & insightful, keep up the good work!

At Liverpool we fans are put through the same torture season after season.. Our build-up play and chance creation is sometimes brilliant, we get ourselves in front through hard work, then make the stupidest mistakes possible to throw the points out of the window. Classic example today's game vs City.. City would never have equalised if Skrtel didnt make that pass back to Tevez. Just awful. Oh well at least our passing game is great to watch and our team looks much better already than last season. The manager has great tactics to implement and if he gets enough time to build this team, we shall see many glorious days at Anfield in the future.
We gave City one hell of a game and they are fortunate and grateful to walk away with 1 point. And that says something. Onwards & upwards :) YNWAAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10639674660527850918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33779660.post-39655929689436165942012-08-26T22:18:23.480-04:002012-08-26T22:18:23.480-04:00I didn't think Liverpool pressed up the pitch ...I didn't think Liverpool pressed up the pitch much at all. Even when City had the ball in their attacking half, Liverpool did not press the ball. Only when the ball was in City's attacking third did they press. Interesting & encouraging that Rodgers would show flexibility in departing from his preferred "style" of play to embrace the right strategy for an opponent. I do have to say that there are some significant differences from last year when you look at the squad.

Firstly, Joe Allen is masterful while last year we were seeing recruits that were not in the right mind for the system. The new recruitment scheme will be abundantly more fruitful if our head is only turned by those that fit the system.

Secondly, the average age on the field my be lower. It would be an interesting analysis. My guess is that while the team was younger we have completed more passes and at a higher success rate as well.

Cheers,
Jaredj8whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05635480780529879704noreply@blogger.com
